About MAPS@UO
"To provide students with resources that will expand their views in medicine and current health issues and in addition, to give back to the community by participating in service projects and events. Our ultimate goal is to raise enough money for members of our chapter to travel abroad and assist a foreign country in health care."
- Hung Trinh, MAPS@UO President '12-13 "This club is aimed to help get a diverse group of students into medical school. However, this club is not limited to minorities and is not limited to pre-med; all pre-health members, and will be fulling functioning within a few short weeks. We mainly will be coordinating events through OHSU, and as of now, suture classes, mock interviews, and an OHSU trip have been tentatively planned. We are also in the process of forming a partnership with Kaplan, for help with admittance preparation and scholarships."
– Kellie Satterfield, '10-11 Co-Vice President & Campus Coordinator of MAPS@UO |
"Minority Association of Pre-medical Students is a pipeline organization sponsored by Student National Medical Association (SNMA) that aims to provide academic, professional, and social support for current under-
represented minority pre-medical students. MAPS serves as a resource for minority students interested in health care by mentoring, sponsoring educational seminars, and organizing volunteer opportunities. Ultimately, the purpose of MAPS is to increase the number of underrepresented minority physicians entering the workforce and address health care care disparties through community outreach and education programs. The organization is open to all who are interested." - Wake Forest University |
