The Arc is an organization that works with people of disabilities of all ages. They advocate enhancing dignity, expanding opportunities, and protecting rights of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. We have the opportunity to work with the children that participate in this organization on the first Saturday of each month from 10-4 pm. They are looking for volunteers to play and interact with the kids as well as their siblings for any amount of time you can give.
If interested, please come to the orientation meeting WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 18th at 6 pm in the EMU Metolius Room. Orientation is mandatory before being allowed to work with the kids and it will be no longer than an hour. The representative will share about the various disabilities and attitudes you may encounter as well as teach some sign language and other ways to communicate with the kids.
